TriStar Experience is the place to help get STEM education off-the-ground!

Guests will climb aboard our L1011 jumbo jet and enter a real, working aircraft that will serve as their classroom for the day.

The TriStar Experience L1011 plane is located at Kansas City International Airport and from the moment guests enter the gates, they are immersed in the world of aviation.

Guests will participate in hands-on learning experiences including experiments with force and motion, principles of flight, learning about the aviation ecosystem, exploring aviation STEM careers, designing and testing your own rocket, and even sitting in the cockpit of the plane alongside a pilot.

Our goal is to help educators provide a real-world connection to their classroom science, technology, engineering, and math content while making memories that will last a lifetime!

Testimonials

“TriStar Experience. Look it up. It was a fantastic STEM experience in the field of all things aeronautics.”

Parent, MO

“Thank you TriStar Experience for a wonderful day!  We learned so much about the forces of flight and airplanes today.”

PLTW Educator, MO

“What a great opportunity to expose students to a real world learning environment where they get to be in a huge airplane as their classroom for the day.  If you are wanting to take your learning outside the four walls of your classroom, this is a great place to be.”

Parent, MO

“We were looking at a way to help make our standards come alive and this program was amazing.  Our students kept talking about their time on the plane weeks following the trip and we’re still able to recall what they learned.  This is a hands-on field trip that immersed the students in all things aviation for the day.”

Instructional Coach, KS

“I loved that we got to talk to a real pilot and sit in the cockpit of the plane.  He showed us all about what the instruments did while we watched planes take off at the airport.”

Student, 10

“My favorite station was making a rocket.  We built it and then got to test it.  It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot.”

Student, 11

“From the minute we drove onto the airport grounds we got to feel a part of the airport. It was cool to see all the other planes, but then pull our school bus right up to this huge plane. Best field trip of the year!”

Student, 9

“It’s always good to find ways to connect what students are learning at school with what is happening around them in the community.  TriStar Experience made that easy to do for our study of force and motion.  The activities were prepared for us and connected to our state standards.”
